Privacy Policy

1. What I collect

I collect only what I need to run Frugalist.club:

• Membership information: Email, name, and encrypted password
• Financial simulation data: Your inputs (capital, contributions, goals) and saved simulations. Your simulations are private by default. If you choose to share a simulation through a share link, only that specific simulation becomes visible to people with the link.
• Payment information: Processed by Paddle. I never see or store your card details
• Usage data: Pages visited, tools used, time spent, aggregated and anonymized so I can improve the tools
• Technical data: Browser type, device info, IP address for security and troubleshooting

2. How I use your information

I use your data to:

• Run and improve the tools
• Save your simulations and preferences
• Process payments and manage subscriptions
• Send important service notices (you can opt out of everything else)
• Look at usage patterns to build better tools
• Help you when you write to me
• Detect and prevent fraud or security problems

I look at data in aggregate, trends across all members, not at what one person does.

3. Data protection

Your financial data is sensitive. I protect it with:

• Encryption: Data encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest (AES-256)
• AWS infrastructure: Encrypted at rest and in transit, SOC 2 compliant
• Access controls: Only I have access to the systems, and all access is logged
• Monitoring: I monitor and test the security on an ongoing basis
• Backups: Your data is backed up regularly to prevent loss

4. Sharing your information

I share your data only in these specific cases:

• When you choose to share: If you create a share link for a simulation, that specific simulation becomes visible to anyone with the link. You control what you share and can turn the link off anytime.
• Paddle: For payment processing (they do not see your simulations)
• AWS: For hosting and data storage (encrypted)
• Anthropic: For AI features, only anonymized financial parameters, never personal information
• Analytics tools: Anonymized usage data to understand how people use the tools

I share data only when it is necessary to run the service, and I use providers that follow strict privacy standards. I do not sell your personal information to anyone.

5. Your rights

Your data is yours:

• Access: Download all your data anytime from your dashboard
• Correction: Update anything that is wrong
• Deletion: Delete your membership and all the data that goes with it, permanently
• Export: Take your simulations with you in standard formats
• Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails (I will still send essential service notices)
• Portability: Ask for your data in a machine-readable format

6. Cookies and tracking

I use minimal cookies for:

• Essential: Keep you signed in, remember your preferences
• Analytics: Understand which tools people actually use (anonymized)
• Performance: Monitor and improve site speed

I do not use advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers.

7. Data retention

I keep your data as long as your membership is active. When you delete your membership:

• Personal data is deleted within 30 days
• Backups are purged within 90 days
• Anonymous usage statistics may be kept for aggregate analysis

8. International data transfers

Frugalist.club is hosted on AWS servers. Your data may be processed in different regions, but always with the same level of protection, complying with GDPR and international privacy standards.

9. Children’s privacy

Frugalist.club is not intended for anyone under 16. I do not knowingly collect information from children. If I discover I have, I will delete it immediately.

10. Changes to this policy

I may update this policy as the tools change or new regulations apply. I will tell you about significant changes by email. Continued use means you accept the updated policy.
